Last night I witnessed an awesome live show by Howlies. It was like seeing a skiffle-inspired psychedelic rock band from the 60s filtered through modern-day indie-Atlanta (their home… you can hear and see some of the best aspects of that scene (black lips, deerhunter, gringo starr, etc) in their live show and vibe).  Check them out.  If they are coming near you, you should certainly go.

For some reason, sitting here recollecting that show led my mind to the following (also amazing live) band:  Connan Mockasin, formerly Connan and the Mockasins.  The music is super strange and wonderful (in my opinion).  One of the most unique sounds I’ve come across.  Below are two videos… one of Connan and the Mockasins and the other of the newer Connan Mockasin.  Enjoy!
